Planning applications in the Quarter

It’s been a bit quieter since the last planning application update but we have seen development kick off at The Quarter and there seems to be plenty of work going on around the JQ.

We’ve missed one application – a change of use from office to resi on 2014/02349/PA for the Dakota Building on James St, but the JQDT has made representations.  The other applications which are current are listed below – click the planning application number links in the title and then click “view related documents” at the bottom:

2014/01269/PA Updated design for Perry Beeches IV on Albion St

This follows comments from the JQDT (of which the JQNF is part) and presumably other parties.  The design of the extension has been updated for the better, and no longer overpowers Pope St.  The window pattern has been made to fit with the rhythm of the existing building too.

2014/02717/PA – Minty fresh at The Mint

Another revamp of a listed building and reinstatement of a missing original roof feature at the former Birmingham Mint on Icknield St.

2014/02181/PA – Caspar House the storey goes on for Charlotte St

Caspar apparently stood for “City-centre Apartments for Single People at Affordable Rents” when it was built.  This is a resubmission of a lapsed permission from 2007 to add another storey.  It has caused a bit of a stir already – see what you think.

2014/02722/PA – Ludgate Hill apartments opposite the Actress & Bishop?

A conversion of an office to apartments with an extra storey added.  Is there a risk of another Spotted Dog or Fiddle & Bone story here if residents make a noise complaint?

You can log your comments directly on the website or email and quote the application number.  Do let us know your thoughts by commenting here or tweeting @JQNF so your JQNF can make representations too.

Any planning application can be viewed at here:

Just type in the application number and hit “search”.  Or use the “main application search” for more general searches.
