Blue Orange Arts invites you to the final sharing and celebration event for their recent project ‘Theatre of the Unemployed’ on Tuesday 26th November 3pm at the Blue Orange Theatre.
Theatre of the unemployed was funded by Birmingham City Council and delivered by Blue Orange Arts Ltd – the registered charity at the Blue Orange Theatre. The workshops began in September and have been running once a week over the last ten weeks with two groups of unemployed adults who are either over 50 years of age or have experience of mental health issues. The project consisted of ten drama based workshops which focussed on providing participants with various skills required for future employment or further training, such as raised self-confidence, communication skills and building awareness of self and others. Within the workshops participants have written pieces of creative writing such as poetry, duologues and stories, improvised and devised innovative pieces of theatre, explored issues surrounding unemployment, created artwork and taken part in drumming and storytelling workshops. The final sharing event will provide the opportunity for the participants of Theatre of the Unemployed to showcase their work and celebrate their achievements.
The event will take place on Tuesday 26th November at 3pm at the Blue Orange Theatre, 118 Great Hampton Street, Birmingham, B18 6AD. It’s free to attend and refreshments will be provided. Please RSVP in order that we can confirm your place. Please feel free to share this invitation with those you feel may be interested.
