At long last, a planning application has been lodged for a redesigned Golden Square, outside the Big Peg and Rose Villa Tavern. The application number is 2013/06142/PA
Thankfully at first glance it looks like the changes are minimal and presumably done to help stick to a budget. We would like to see more detail on the visitor centre though. As the trees have been removed already, hopefully this is a sign that work will start as soon as planning permission is given.
We will try to find out more. In the meantime you can see the application here http://goo.gl/II8u8M and comment if you wish. We will comment in liaison with the Jewellery Quarter Development Trust.
In the meantime the excellent 24 Carrots markets will continue to take place seasonally in St Paul’s Square.
