The Blue Orange Theatre presents Blithe Spirit (Fri 7 – Sat 15 June)

The Blue Orange Theatre has been open for two years and this is the first time that the company has presented a play by Noel Coward. BLITHE SPIRIT is possibly Coward’s best known comedy play having had many successful productions since it was first premiered in 1941.

Described as an improbable farce it is about Charles Condomine, a celebrated author, who is holding a séance as research for his latest novel. Unfortunately, the séance conjures up his first wife, Elivira, who has been dead for seven years and she’s not happy about it, nor does she approve of Charles’ second wife, Ruth. To make matters worse only Charles can see her. With the help of the eccentric local medium, Madam Arcati, they try to send Elivira packing but things do not go to plan and hilarity ensues.

BLITHE SPIRIT is directed by Blue Orange Artistic Director, Mark Webster and the cast includes regular Blue Orange favourites – Stuart Horobin as Charles (Frozen, Midsummer Night’s Dream, Two Way Mirror), Toni Griffiths as Madam Arcati (Frozen, Misery, Teechers), Emma Cooper as Elvira (A Christmas Carol, Two Way Mirror), Caroline Frewin as Ruth (Dracula), and Louise Stokes as Edith (Treasure Island, Peter Pan).
