Ladywood ward, which includes the JQ, has been chosen to receive money from the government’s Community First initiative until March 2015. The funding is aimed at helping communities come together to identify their strengths and local priorities in order to plan for their future and become more resilient. It funds both new and existing community groups. More, official, information about the funding can be found here. The Ladywood Community First Panel seeks to represent all parts of Ladywood and has a representative from JQNF at the table.
In order to get the programme rolling in Ladywood, the Panel had to set some funding priorities:
- Creating employment and training especially for young people
- Creating community spirit, reducing isolation and empowering community (including young people, children, elderly)
- Supporting Families in Crisis
- Making Ladywood’s public realm clean, safe and green
As a condition of continued funding the Community Development Foundation require us to produce a Community Plan and to do that we need to engage with the community – us! We hope that the information gathered will help us identify the strengths and weaknesses of the the Ladywood Ward, as well as check that the funding priorities are right. To have your chance to influence those priorities – and to influence the Ladywood Community First Plan, please go to this survey – it will take no more than 5 minutes and could change the place you live.
