Ladywood ward has been chosen to receive money from the government’s Community First initiative over the next four years, until March 2015. The funding will help communities come together to identify their strengths and local priorities in order to plan for their future and become more resilient. It will fund both new and existing community groups. More information about the funding can be found here. The funding priorities for Ladywood, including the JQ, are:
- Creating employment and training especially for young people
- Creating community spirit, reducing isolation and empowering community (including young people, children, elderly)
- Supporting Families in Crisis
- Making Ladywood’s public realm clean, safe and green
The Ladywood CF Panel, which includes a representative from the JQNF, has chosen to invite bids in three rounds per year. The current round closes on the 29th October. Bids must be between £250 and £2500, though the extreme pressure on funding makes it less likely that a bid for the full amount would be successful unless it was very strong. See the website for details of how to bid.
